Botulinum Toxin
Botulism Toxin is a neurotoxin which is made by the bacteria clostridium botulism. It can be used for medical and cosmetic use and can be called anti-wrinkle treatment. It comes in many brands but the main 3 licensed products in the UK are Botox®️, Azzulare and Bocouture.
•Botox or equivalent brands are prescription only medications (POMs). They have to be prescribed to each individual client by a registered professional who carries out a face-to-face consultation before administration. This is a legal requirement and for your own safety. •Refine Beauty uses Azzalure and Botox®️ dependent on the area being treated. I will always discuss with each client which one I recommend using for their treatment and why. If a client has a preference, I can tailor to this. •Anti-wrinkle injections are not permanent. The neurotoxin will begin to wear off and gradually the muscles will begin contracting and moving again. Your muscles will not suddenly start moving again so do not worry! •The treatment is injected directly into the facial muscles (or body) which essentially paralyses them temporarily. This prevents muscle contraction which reduces fine lines and wrinkles and could potentially reduce static lines as well. •Your anti-wrinkle treatment is designed to prevent or reduce lines caused by muscle movement. It does not add volume. Upper and lower face, hands, feet, and underarms can all be treated with botox in my clinic. Ideally treatment is started before deep lines or creases set in (static lines). •Most anti-wrinkle injections start to work within 3-5 days but reach the full effect at 10-14 days. Results usually last 3-4 months but every client is different with internal and external factors to consider. •Between 10-14 days after your initial appointment, I will review your results and administer a top up if needed. This is included in your overall price. It is worth noting that this is not always required – if the muscle is paralysed then a further dose will not benefit you or make it last longer. At 12 weeks you can have an additional appointment regardless of your movement.
Dermal Filler
Dermal filler is a soft gel made up of Hyaluronic Acid (HA). HA is found naturally throughout our bodies. Different brands and products have different amounts of HA present and different consistencies dependent on the area to treat. In the clinic we use world renowned Teoxane products.
•Fillers are injected into the skin at different depths and angles to help fill in facial wrinkles, add volume or contour •Refine Beauty uses Teoxane products in the clinic which are world renowned and are one of the leading filler companies for their excellence. •Multiple areas can be treated at once and the effects are immediate. However, sometimes multiple sessions are required to get the desired effect. •It provides temporary effects as it is broken down by the body but on average last anywhere between 9-18 months. •Any migrated or unwanted filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase which is an enzyme that counteracts the filler. It can also be used in emergency situations. If you have had a previous severe or anaphylactic reaction, please put this on your medical form so Robyn is aware and can treat appropriately. •Areas treated in the clinic include lips, nasolabial folds, cheeks, chin and jaw. •Filler treatments can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable but should never be agony. In the clinic I use topical numbing cream (LMX4 or Elma) which contains lidocaine for comfort. Teoxane products used all contain lidocaine as well for additional comfort. It is important to note that Robyn will not inject more filler if she feels that it is not required or there is ongoing migration. A treatment plan can be discussed to see suitable options whether that is dissolving or treating other areas with filler. The clinic ethos is to maintain our clients own beauty - just refine and enhance what is already there.
